| | So I recently had to take the ACT and SAT college entrance exams. Before I went in I thought this test would be hard, but I’m not a complete idiot and I thought that hey, maybe I have a chance at doing well. What I didn’t count on was exactly how pitilessly painful these test were. They sit you down in a room, had you a booklet, and start reading directions off to you. It would be one thing if this test were on some Wednesday around Noon. But no, these high executives think that we should test everyone fifteen and up on a freaking Saturday morning at 8 AM! Who do these people think they are anyway? Who gives them the power to tell me if I am allowed to go to college or not? My grades are good enough that I should be accepted to a lot of colleges. Who died and put them in charge of everything to do about college. Anyways, after they finish reading you these directions that only make sense to college English professors they tell you that you have 45 minutes to complete as many questions as you can before time runs out. You are tested on Science, Math, Writing, and English in the ACT and just Writing, Math, and English in the SAT. 45 minutes sounds like a long time to answer questions, until you look at the end and see that you have 65 questions to answer. There are 4 sections of this on the ACT, and there are 12 freaking sections on the SAT that seem to never end. Before the test is over you want to start kicking and screaming and cussing at the stupid test that lays before you, oh but guess what. That’s not allowed either. No talking or your test will be disqualified. Then you either have to take it again or try another test if you want to get into college. So here is my advice for people who are going to take the test.
1. Go to bed before 4 AM like I did. Big mistake. Get at LEAST 7 hours of sleep before taking the test.
2. Wake up 45 minutes early to be able to have everything done before you get there.
3. EAT BREAKFAST! You are in that room forever and you will be hungry.
4. Drink some coffee. If you don’t like coffee, and energy drink so you will stay awake while some old librarian reads crap to you that you don’t care about.
5. If they tell you to arrive at 7:45 arrive at 7:30 so you don’t have to wait in line for 2 hours.
Well.. I hope this helps any future college goers and test takers. |
